The use of cast iron bollards provides a very traditional theme to a street furniture project. For centuries cast iron has been used in streetscapes across the world, with a reputation for being strong, durable, robust and anti-corrosive it is the ideal choice. Cast iron has an excellent strength to weight ratio with lower density and higher thermal conductivity than steels at comparable tensile strength levels.
The look of cast iron often lends itself perfectly to a heritage, Old World style of street furniture often associated with product gold highlighting and banding.
All ESF cast iron street furniture products are finished in black as standard. If you require any other colours, contact us. ESF patterns are stored and maintained so that any product previously ordered can be matched exactly again ensuring the continuity of your street furniture purchases no matter what timescale passes by.
Cast iron is a fully recyclable source; therefore it helps to reduce the environmental impact of your streetscape. ESF‘s Simplicity Collection is cast using the cleanest technologies available, in accordance with ISO 14001 environmental management procedures.
All Simplicity Collection cast iron street furniture products are finished with Plascoat or PPA 571 - a thermoplastic coating powder that can be applied by either fluidised bed dipping or by electrostatic spraying.
Plascoat has been extensively tested in a number of laboratories and has been used and monitored for many years in applications from the Tropics to the Arctic.
Plascoat outlasts most, if not all traditional coating powders in terms of UV, salt-spray and pollution resistance, flexibility, resistance to sand abrasion and cold temperature properties.
All of ESF’S Simplicity Collection cast iron bollards are badged ESF. Optional customer logos and/or crests etc can be incorporated at an additional cost. Please contact us for further detail.
Bespoke Service
ESF can design and manufacture bespoke products - new design concepts, updating current designs and incorporating logos, crests etc into existing designs. Please contact us for further information.
Bollards have a variety of designs and uses from those designed to give way on minimum impact to those designed to withstand heavy forces. They are perfect for traffic calming, separating bike lanes, marking off taxi rank areas, delineating and protecting pedestrian zones, preventing on pavement parking and protecting buildings. They can enhance the aesthetics of an area and co ordinate with other existing street furniture elements such as seating, litter bins and recycling units. Moreover some can be adapted to work as post and panel, post and rail or post and chain, with the bollard becoming the post.
Therefore, they can have a huge effect an area and can contribute to a safer, more attractive and easier to navigate around environment for us all.
